Juvenile Great Crested Grebe
Today I just worked until lunchtime. After a hearty lunch, my husband and I went over to the Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve in search of Kingfishers and Sandpipers. I'd seen them on their website and was hoping to strike lucky today.
We spent 3 hours at the reserve and saw plenty of the usual ducks, coots, geese, gulls and we eventually had a quick flash of a Kingfisher, but that was it. No fishing or posing on the carefully placed poles.
We did see a family of black necked grebes - one of the parents and the 7 chicks, but they were too far away for a decent shot and the light was very poor.
Here is what I think is a juvenile Great Crested Grebe, although I am happy to be corrected.
I would like to thank everyone for the lovely stars, hearts and comments about yesterday's Jays - I am so pleased that so many people enjoyed them as much as I did.
Have a great weekend everybody.
