Apple Camp
Today was the second day of Miss E's Apple Camp in Milton Keynes.
On Monday they coded animation and built games. Today it was programming and robotics, learning to code Sphero - a little round robot.
Guess what's gone straight to the top of Miss E's Christmas list?!!!
We went downstairs for "Parent Camp" again which I really enjoyed. Mr C, the guy running it, was very engaging and funny, and it wasn't at all a sales pitch which I had thought it might be. I learnt how to stop my phone alerting me twice whenever I get a text; I learnt how to restrict the Little Misses' printing capabilities - probably saving whole rainforests in the process! And, usefully I learnt loads about photo storage, sharing and backing up. Very useful as I seem to have all but stopped using my big camera!!
When we went back upstairs to see the kids playing with their robots. Miss E was clearly very taken by her partner, Mr C. It was very sweet to see her being girly and self conscious and shy and confident and happy. There was a fair bit of hair tossing!!
It's hard to describe but it was like seeing her through someone else's eyes.
Miss L came with us today and was as good as gold. I'd worried that she'd be whingy and jealous that she wasn't doing the camp. Mr C got her a pair of Beat headphones, plugged her in to a Macbook Pro and she happily sat on the stool next to me and watched and played CBeebies for an hour and a half.
Once they'd finished we headed to Pizza Hut. Again! Miss L's choice this time. They looked very sweet doing the wordsearch together (see extras)
As ever the best part of all was the unlimited ice cream and sweets they get to have for pudding. Pretty much a dream come true for my two!!
From there it was to the Lego Store - to spend more of their pocket money from Grandad J. They filled tubs from the pick your own range. I sounded ancient as I explained to them that when I was little that's what Lego was - none of this kit nonsense!!
