Star Ferry

Many of the decorations on my Christmas tree have a special significance to me. My 13 years in Hong Kong were fantastic. I loved the place (still do!) and the people. And the iconic Star Ferry was my favourite way of crossing to the Island from Kowloon. Sometimes I just went for a ride on the longer journey to Hung Hom, (and then there were the island ferries that took me out to such delightful spots as Cheung Chau and Lamma). Another favourite was the "slow boat to China"...well, to Macau actually but another amazing journey and one that brings back many wonderful memories:-) But the only one they made an ornament of was the Star. (And also Santa on a junk, but that's a different set of memories)

It's been another troubled day at work. I can't wait for this term to finish, although I'm not that convinced that the problems will suddenly disappear! Most of the kids are great and I still enjoy teaching them, it's the rest of the stuff that's causing the angst... and some of the personalities involved. Enough of that.... back to my memories of times gone by and some pleasant dreams of them, hopefully!
