Picnic by the River
Bit cooler today, so we ventured out to the river for a picnic at lunchtime - not quite up to Wind in the Willows standard:
"The Rat brought the boat alongside the bank, tied it up, helped awkward Mole safely ashore, and swung out the picnic basket. The Mole begged to be allowed to unpack it all by himself. He took out all the mysterious packets one by one and arranged their contents, gasping 'Oh my! Oh my!' at each fresh surprise."
... but plenty good enough - Mike's sourdough bread, my avocado and tomato salsa, the Anemas' organic raw milk cheese, their organic aubergines that M had seared in olive oil, and locally made chorizo - plus cold beer, of course, and kiwis - a favourite of Zion's.
The Portuguese were all at the picnic tables, complete with table cloths, barbecuing their meat - am guessing they were a bit contemptuous of our rather more ad lib approach...
