Holly dog 1.10.99 to 28.07.16
Our darling little Holly dog was peacefully put to sleep on Thursday. We were with her and she knew love and caring right up to her last breath. She has been a huge part of our lives for the past sixteen years and ten months. Life will not be the same without her. Since she first waddled into the kitchen all those years ago, as a 12 week old puppy, she stamped her character on the place and we knew that she was going to rule the roost from there on in!
She has had a wonderfully happy life with lovely walks in the fields and woods around us. She also loved tearing along beaches on our UK holidays - always a few paces ahead of any other dogs who tried to keep up with her. She was a tomboy at heart and got into a few scrapes but she was a very determined soul and refused to give in - until now. She has stayed in the best hotels: Gleneagles, Hambleton Hall and the Goodwood Hotel to name but a few! She was always a favourite with the hotel staff. A great escapologist when she was young, easily clearing our five-bar gate from a standing start, she would disappear up the lane in search of fun and any stray chickens! We have buried her in the garden on a little terrace looking out on the valley she loved and which she never grew tired of keeping watch over.
Rest in peace darling Holly dog. We will miss you so much and our lives will never be quite the same again. We feel privileged to have had you in our lives - thank you for all the love you have given us and for being our best friend over all these years.
A great friend of ours once referred to her in a letter as “heavenly Holly” - a perfect description then - and now.
