Backlit Sunflowers

It was finally time to leave our lovely boat after a week of really relaxing cruising this morning. We got up early to leave it clean and to pack, then I (Annie) took my brother and Fred into Beziers to their hotel. I headed back to the boatyard to pick up Chris and the girls and together we all set off back up North. The Motorways were really busy, so we smiled as the SatNav re-routed us along a smaller road along the path of the Canal. We watched as we drove unpeeling the days of our trip: what had taken us a week of boat cruising was done in around 90 minutes in the car.

I dropped Chris and the girls off at Toulouse airport before heading on up a couple of hours to visit a friend for the night. Su (who I had worked with) and her husband Colin gave me wonderful hospitality - a fabulous cooked meal (including home grown beans) and a walk around the beautiful, quiet French countryside around their house. They even topped it off with a stunning lightning storm in the evening - amazing to watch!

The blip is of the field next to their house. The odd thing about a backlit sunflower facing you is that it means that the sunflower is facing the *wrong way*. They are supposed to turn their heads to face the sun. They were beautiful, if a little foolish...
