Homeward Unbound

A Sail! Willy Barr of the Bar had organised a wee sail in company (eight boats!) over to Burntisland. A fair old blow over and one which wasn’t entirely hassle free. Firstly, it had been a while since I’d emptied the starboard bilge (OK I hadn’t done it since lift in) so there was a little excess water to dispose of (the sort of thing that alarms those, errr, not in the know). And then the bloody line jumped out the furler drum, necessitating a bit of a trip for’ard in a bit of a choppy sea. Again, alarming to those not in the know.
But we got there and rafted up with our vast trays of summer fruits, beers, chorizo wraps: traditional stuff. all. Hasn’t changed since the days of Nelson.
And who arrived by the quayside with their shanties but Mr and Ms Rex (see extra!). Good to see the old dog again. He doesn't care for Leonard Cohen either though?!
Time for home though, eventually. And what happened as we hauled up the mains'il, but the topping lift came unattached. Oh dear, just a minor inconvenience, but yes, alarming to those not entirely in the know (but getting increasingly knowing..).
