Hatfield House

Visited Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. Tucked away in a corner beside the gift shops and restaurant is this building. It's a Real Tennis club where I played a match (and lost) as part of a tournament called the Corinthian Cup. This tournament is taking place alongside the Olympics but Real Tennis is not currently an Olympic sport - not since 1908 when the gold medal was won by an American.

This week I met an American who showed me a copy of the certificate awarded to the Real Tennis gold medal winner at those Games. All medal winners got the same certificate but the name of the sport or event was hand written on it.
