A Fine City

A wander through the back-ways from work to the city centre took me past Augustine Stewards House in Tombland Alley.  This crooked house dates from 1549 when it was built for Augustine Steward, amongst other things he was three times Mayor of Norwich.

The building has special interest for me as family legend has it that my Grandpa stayed with a relative who worked there around 100 years ago when it was a soup kitchen for troops stationed at nearby Barrack Street.

It's good to live in a Fine City, as Norwich likes to call itself.
