Stonywell Arts and Crafts House and Lampy!

This magnificent Arts and Crafts Home has only recently been taken over by the NT - we had to make an appointment to go round but it was really delightful. It is an enduring 1950's home designed by Ernest Gimson - this pipe shelf was a practical solution to a piece of slate incorporated above the fireplace. The final owner still visits and has even been known to dance on the oak table to prove it is not too precious but a home! The table even showed marks of family table tennis matches. It was delightful!

This afternoon Lesley and I visited Lamport Hall home of the original garden gnome - Lampy - now worth over a million pounds . The story of Lampy is fascinating and eccentric and worth checking out.We did a tour of the house which had developed from a Tudor Manor.
Gnome definition - 'guarding naturally over Mother Earth '.
