Heleniums

Around three years ago, my neighbours, who are very keen gardeners kindly gave me a few of these lovely heleniums that they had been 'dividing' in their garden. I had long coveted them during the times that I had been called in to do some holiday watering for them. Now they are stars in my garden too. I think this is the variety 'Moerheim Beauty' - whatever its name, it's spectacular.
They are natives of the Americas and I can't believe that the common name is sneezeweed - apparently their dried leaves were used at one time to make snuff! What an awful name for such a beautiful flower!
Heleniums are perennial, fully hardy, and die down to almost nothing in winter, to rise again in spring to their full glory.

For the record: Mainly cloudy, showers, max 20C.
