Life from city to village

River Styx

This is the River Styx, taken from the bridge over it, in the Hellfire Caves. It was an interesting place - originally a quarry system for chalk to build a road to High Wycombe - to give the local villagers jobs, as they were all struggling after a bad harvest. Lord Dashford's son, Francis Dashford, then used the caves for his Hellfire Club - a group of his friends with an aim of elitism and debauchery. Funnily enough the club included a personage who later became a Conservative Prime Minister. History repeats itself?
