The Highland Voyage - the Vital Spark
Today we set off to the west.
Passing Loch Lomond we drove to the West. Stopping at Loch Fyne and the heading to Inveraray for a first stop.
The weather was wonderful.
It was great to catch up with Iain Campbell, a fantastic piper who "practises" at the Wollen Mill being at the same time a tourist attraction (and a good looking one!)
From there we drove to Loch Awe (one of my favourite Lochs) and stopped at St. Conan's Kirk! If it ever happens you pass by there, please stop, admire this wonderful building and support it's maintenance with a little donation!
Next stop was Oban. It was summery hot and we headed straight to the pier to go to John's Seafood Hut and indulge into Shellfish. I has prawns, mussels, scallops, oysters and a crab ..... (I knew why I skipped breakfast ....) ! You cannot get seafood any fresher!
But you have to go to the green hut beside the ferry terminal! That it the real one :) )
After being fed we walked through Oban, bought some shoes and walked up to McCaigs Tower.
Then it was time to head back. This time of course through Glencoe! The weather was glorious! Almost too boring for photography though .....!
We drove all way through and then back to get dinner in the famous Clachaig Inn. It was ok - but no comparison to the seafood we had on the pier in Oban, eaten with plastic forks and fingers ;).
After dinner we drove home and reached Glasgow short after midnight. Tired, but happy!!!
Th Blip is taken in Inveraray.
