Holidays next week.

An overnight trip to the northeast of England to visit Lindisfarne and Durham.

Then the week after it's a wee Scottish adventure. Carradale (a village on the Mull of Kintyre) followed by Gigha (an island off the west coast of the Mull of Kintyre).

Lots of other interesting possibilities on the road between here and there.

So, I invested in a new travel guide as the old one is at least 10 years out of date now. The castles and other main sights don't change much in that time, but lots of other stuff does.

A lot can be learned from online sources, but there's something about a good guide book... And it works even where the wifi doesn't.
