Ely Cathedral

Another outing with Hilda's nursing home today - and what a miserable day weather-wise ! It was very warm but wet - mostly just very fine rain but occasionally heavier showers and less occasionally almost sunshine! We spent some time in the dry, looking around the Cathedral then, in a brief bright spell, set off in a convoy of 5 wheelchairs to walk down to the river through Cherry Hill park and Jubilee Gardens. Just got settled round the outside tables at 'Ta Bouche' when it came on to rain again so we had to go inside. Fortunately they were not very busy and were very willing to move chairs out of the way to make room for the wheelchairs and push three tables together for us. We had tea and cakes or scone or sausage rolls (all equally delicious!) before the mini bus arrived to take us back home. These outings are so much enjoyed by the residents - they break the routine and give them a sense of normality - thank you to the lovely staff at the Cathedral and Ta Bouche for looking after us all.
