Penrith Mill Stone

In Penrith, we got our first water supply about 1400, Bishop Strickland.

Water was diverted from the River Petteril, about 2 miles north of the town, and we got as much water as could pass through the eye of a mill stone.

The mill stone lives in Penrith, in the Silver Jubilee Garden next to the local museum, next to the beck.
