black-crowned night-heron if I've not misidentified it. And the extra is a muskrat. Up early enough to see an abundance of wild life: buck mule deer, a skein of a dozen herons, (this one's parents among them, I wonder?), beaver, muskrats, hummingbirds and the usual American robins and red-winged blackbirds.
I've just returned from playing and singing at a funeral Mass and Kathy's gone down to the hospital for a radiology study..
