Radiating

Dear Diary,

Yesterday I dropped off last year's journal to be bound into two volumes.  Flipping through it, it occurred to me that I made a lot more photographs of flowers last year than this year so I thought I would do one today.  The cleome is an annual that I've always liked.  It is really feeling the strain of our rain-less weather even though I do hand water it.

Most of the garden is faring alright although I must admit I am getting weary of the constant work.  Next week my garden helper will be here and together we will get things back into order I hope.  Having a sore back for a week has put me seriously behind.

We still have several weeks of summer left but last night when I went out to turn the sprinkler off I sense something different in the air.  It is hard to describe but there was a hint of autumn in the evening breeze.  The seasons roll on whether we want them to or not.
