Inside Out

Hard to believe what has become of the rear part of the old Woolworths shop on Lothian Road / Fountainbridge. It was a Poundstretcher and Farmfoods for quite some time, Pondstretcher opening here because of the Edinburgh Tram works. Because the two were connected, when Poundstretcher recently closed, the Farmfoods store also closed. The rear part on Fountainbridge and Semple Street, was demolished, leaving an empty shell and this view. Apparently this is because the Semple Street / Fountainbridge part of Lothian House wasplainer and of lesser architectural interest.

The section of Lothian House, on Lothian Road is unaffected.
