It's been a lovely day

And we spent most of the afternoon with our neighbours having drinks and food in their garden. They are such a lovely couple.

My new hens are settling in well and at long last recognise me as the bringer of food and tasty weeds to eat. No eggs yet but I've only had them for three days so I'm hoping next week.

The picture is of a bed I redid in the autumn last year. It's a bit sparse until the plants bulk up but there's a good lot of colour now. It's begun to be a bit autumnal in the mornings and the crocosmia coming out heralds the end of the summer holidays. The kids go back to school in a week or so. (we finish at the end of June in Scotland)
