Daily blip, plus evening poem

Today we woke to a quite heavy mist. Dull and overcast which was not the 'cloudy & 23 degrees' we had hoped for. But as it's a holiday, there was no urgency to get up, so we didn't.

By 11 we were all up and breakfasting, as a glimmer of sun broke through. Henry and i played a bit of table tennis, Jon spent quite a bit of time completing a job application which he saw the day before we came away, the other two read a lot. The day continued to be a lazy one, with spells warm enough for a need to cool off in the pool. Mostly we sat and read, ate & drank. There was a family discussion about what our plans are for our second week, taking account of a predicted cooling in the weather, and the need for the younger one to spend his holiday money. So we have made some provisional plans. There isn't anywhere close, that is obviously touristy. Perhaps Saumur being the closest. There is a zoo they fancy, and we may take the long drive to the coast tomorrow for a different scene. We don't do seaside holidays in general, so we will see how it pans out. I like the unplannedness of it all, so far!

After an afternoon of sunning, Henry cooked dinner on the barbeque: Sausages, burgers & free courgette from the veg patch here. It was yum. So then I wrote a quick poem to end my 501st blip.

A HOLIDAY BLIPPERS EVENING
A tinitus of crickets, raspy rustles through the dusk
And tawny owl, with strangled call, disturbs a sleepy hush
As sun turns in for one more day, it's job once more complete
The path clear for her lunar mate to take the driving seat
I feel the tension leaking from my every pore and breath
The aches of real life easing, worries too distant to reach
The gentle swish of summer swirls around my consciousness
Relaxed I take another glass, and toast my absent stress
A scent of smoky lemon drifts to ban the nighttime pests
As light makes way for darkness, nothing spoils this soothing rest
By candlelight the readers noiselessly scan page on page
While I, with words, paint silently, a picture of each day.
