Lyle, Washington
We’re in Lyle, Washington, population 530. There’s one hotel, one bar, a couple of churches, and a park where some people who might otherwise be homeless live in small travel trailers and old cars. The people we saw out there appeared to be Native American, and there's a fishing area adjacent to the park, reserved for members of specific Native American tribes.
On the way here we stopped in Bingen, a little larger than Lyle and famous for its antique market. I found an edition of Paradise Lost published in 1940 with nine exquisite colored illustrations by William Blake--for $10.
In Lyle we spotted a Trump for President sign. It was the first one either of us had ever seen.
