Mad dogs and Englishmen
On the 'hill' above our campsite there is a white cross and we decided to walk up there today.
It was ruddy steep, about 2000 feet of climbing and extremely hot with cloudless sky.
It took us 2 hours to get to the top and 80 minutes to come down. The dirt paths were very slippery and I fell and grazed my knee. All that effort and it wasn't even a Wainwright!
The views were amazing and there were some paragliders that took off while we were up there. (They had driven up in 4x4s!) We also met seven other walkers at the top, all of whom were British!
In this shot you can see the town of Potes and at the very bottom left corner you can just see the edge of our campsite that we had walked from.
We were going to walk down into Potes this evening but we are too knackered so will probably eat at the campsite restaurant.
Moving on tomorrow, probably to Pamplona, on our slow potter back home over the next 10 days.
