Shaftesbury Lake
Dappled sunlight on the lake.
The lake was formed in the 1960's after the Parks and Walcot were built from the River Cole. The river, or more accurately a small stream runs from Coate Water to the site of the old Swindon canal behind Shrivenham Road.
It was used by the canal builders in the 1800's as a way of topping up and controlling the level of water in the canal.
