A Day in Largs
We took the scenic route to Largs - A737 - to enjoy the seaside. It rained most of the time but we enjoyed ourselves in between showers. Lots of blips but this caught my fancy most - especially the notice above his head. He stands outside the Blue Lagoon Chippy in Largs. His flag must indicate the Fish & Chip shop belongs to an Italian family. When I was a child it seemed that every Scottish town had an Italian Ice Cream or Fish and Chip shop. Many Italian-Scots can trace their ancestry back to the 1890s when their forefathers escaped drought, famine and poverty in their homeland for a better life in Scotland. Their story goes back further than that though - David Rizzio, private secretary of Mary, Queen of Scots was Italian. The extra is of the Ferry just returning from Millport further up the coast.
