the Fish Shack
What day today ! so many pics very difficult to choose a few.
The day started with a short stroll to Pump St Bakery for breakfast, skillet eggs and bacon with sourdough toast, we sat outside watching the charming village of Orford come alive. People popping into the market hall to pick up the daily paper and leave their money in the honesty box. Then down the alley to the meat shed and across to the bakery for the most amazing artisan breads.
From there we walked more miles than we had planned around the fields and coastal paths from the village. (see old oyster beds in extra) The afternoon we drove 20 minutes up to Aldeburgh. Here I took the main blip of one of the fisherman's sheds on the beach, selling their catch, Their boat pulled up onto the beach, fish processed at the back of the shed and sold out of a door hatch. Fish fresher than this is still in the sea !
An extra is of the Moot House in Aldeburgh, built c.1680 its architecture caught my attention and I kept going back to look at it.
Off now back to the market place for dinner at Butley Orford Oysterage for some of that fresh fish, they have a smokery at the back but I'm no fan of smoked fish.
