Bonarensis Butterfly

Slept ok, but kept waking up every hour or so between 4-8 :-/

We watched some of the Olympics opening ceremony this morning, enjoyed what we saw. Mr Murray majestic with the Union Jack :-)

We walked into town in the sunshine, called into the cafe for a coffee, then ambled back.
Hub had picked a lot of tomatoes from the garden....so it had to be tomatoes and bacon on toast for lunch.....but before that, I soaked our decking in soda crystals dissolved in boiling water as it's supposed to tackle the green moss like covering it has developed over the winter!

After that yummy lunch I set about scrubbing the decking with a hard yard brush, then hosed it down, and repeated the whole process twice more.........it has come up pretty well, thank goodness, after all that hard graft!!
I was splattered from my toes to my waist, luckily I'd worn shorts and plastic sandals...me and the patio doors had to be hosed down ;-)

Hub hoovered and cleaned the car.......whilst I deadheaded all the baskets and troughs, front and back, then watered and fed them. I'd just gone indoors when I heard the roar of an aeroplane very close by, ran outside and just caught sight of a Lancaster Bomber, straddled by two Spitfires...turns out they were doing a fly past at the racecourse, as today's big race was the Rose of Lancaster Stakes.......sadly it all happened too quickly, not a camera in sight!

I washed down the garden table and its base, did some weeding, in the back of one of the raised beds, cleared a space for a new plant :-)

Hub did all the tidying behind me and chopping up for the composter...........then it was time for a proper sit down, so we had a couple of glasses of pink fizz sat in the sunshine. I got my camera out and wandered a while in the hope of catching a butterfly shot. There had been quite a few cabbage whites around and sure enough right on cue this one landed nice and close :-)

Once we had tidied everything away in the garden, I headed for the shower....on checking my steps, over 11,000 :-)

We decided we weren't overly hungry tonight, so we've had Honeydew melon and Serrano ham, followed by cheese and biscuits, made a nice change :-)

My legs and back are aching big time now..... we are sat watching the Olympics...enjoyed the Mens Cycling road race, Men's gymnastics, some swimming and now the women's rugby 7s :-)

More gardening on the agenda tomorrow weather permitting!
