Going for gold
Pinch me as I must have been dreaming today!
I got a call at around 11am from the Ceremonies Team asking if I would like to be in the Olympic Closing Ceremony. The role was to be a 'Flag Escort' for Somalia as part of the Athlete's Parade. Someone had dropped out so they needed a quick decision. After they outlined the rehearsal schedule, I called my manager to check I could take Monday afternoon off and I was soon confirming my place. I couldn't quite believe it as it all happened so quickly. I'm still not exactly sure what I'll be doing but I'm over the moon to be part of the experience again.
I'll be rehearsing at Dagenham tomorrow and Monday and will then be performing next Sunday! I don't think it will ever match my Opening Ceremony experience because of the amazing group of people I was with and got to know over months of rehearsals. However, Im sure it will be fun and another once in a lifetime experience. Matt got me a gold coin to celebrate so I've turned it into a medal with my lanyard ribbon. It also feels an appropriate picture after the fantastic amount of medals Team GB has won today. What a week!
