Soaking up the sun
This wee lass was born overnight, in the very cold temperatures that we have been having. We woke to -3.5 degrees C this morning. It was white as. I feel sorry for the wee animals born overnight into the cold, especially since they have been snug and warm inside their mum. One of my extra photos shows mum coming over to inspect her calf as soon as I left.
Another of my extra photos shows a cow's ear, frozen at the end. It must have been freezing for this to have happened. Once the fog had lifted and the frost melted, we had a beautiful clear day. I don't mind the frost - as long as we have that perfect clear sky once it has melted.
Zamba Poppy the goat was patiently waiting for her breakfast of hay this morning. She has a little house that she can hide away in if it gets to cold for her.
Our big bulls were enjoying their bit of hay this morning. You can see from this photo (and the one of Zamba Poppy) how frosty and foggy it was this morning.
We're about to head back out shortly to feed calves. It seems to be a never ending job of feeding some sort of animal on the farm, whether it be the cows, calves, goat, dogs or cats. I hope they all appreciate us getting out of a nice warm bed, to go outside in the (still) freezing temperatures to feed them!
