A sunny planting

Today did not start out at all sunny - it was cool and overcast.  I actually prefer summer days to start that way, as my apartment faces East and can get seriously hot on the sunny mornings.  The day brightened and warmed as the hours passed, so when I got together with Endless Weekend, Doug, my niece Sarah and our old friend Bruce for dinner and visiting, it was lovely.  I've known Bruce for 30 years, EW has been his close friend for even longer, and it was a real loss when he moved to Atlanta some years ago.  Fortunately, since he was an airline employee until he retired, he still gets travel benefits that enable him to come up for visits at least a couple of times a year.  A photo of Bruce, EW and Sarah is the extra.  The main blip is of a new plant in EW's garden, a bright and cheerful Black-eyed Susan, which seemed in keeping with the sunny happy day today had turned into.
