A snowy front door
The 2 older Breakey kids were meant to be at a scout ski camp this weekend, but it was cancelled due to insufficient snow.
On a whim, I invited a couple of scout families around for an Apres ski meal of soup and two kinds of fondue - cheese and chocolate.
The kids and a special friend spent a relaxing afternoon decorating the house with "snow flakes" which, of course, delayed the start of the cooking, not to mention the tidying and setting up of tables to seat 15 hungry folk dressed in "alpine gear".
Those snow flakes became increasingly complex as our skills were honed, and they look great on our front door. One day on, and I have left them there, just for fun.
It was our first social event since David's funeral, and it went okay with no major disasters or meltdowns.
I missed him looking after the guests whilst I frantically finished the meal, but the guests are good kind people, and everyone pitched in. The other two mums had also brought food, and oh my, we had a great feast!
It was one of those meals that was long and leisurely, with pauses to wash plates for the next course, as well as tending to kids with various first aid needs. Suddenly, it was 10pm and we were just finishing!
Another first, another small step taken. Thank goodness for friends.
