We walk past this old tree trunk most mornings. It's impressive display of bracket fungi is always interesting. Now the fruiting bodies have blown out their spores and all around is covered.
Trouble is this fungus can kill a tree by causing heartwood decay. Best way to avoid this is to cut down and destroy infected trees so the fungus cannot infect other healthy trees.
