Taking the Podium

It was a (relatively) scandal-free day at the NJ AOG Stadium.   That is, if you don't take into account the break-in at the cafeteria.  Well, what can you do when Team Chipmunk is around?  They've denied all charges but it's pretty hard to refute when Scooby is running around with peanut on his breath.  But, the official have decided that they'll look the other way... for now.

Although the Screeching competition is not a favorite with the fans, even the most skeptical were on their feet cheering on young Bleu, seen here at the podium after winning the Trials today.  Those who follow these games closely know that Team Blue Jay are always heavily favored to win, but it was a surprise upset when the youngest member of the team was able to screech so loudly.  He's earned his spot in the games, for sure.

In other news, The captain of Team Giant Swallowtail was seen in the cafe having a power drink - unfortunately, he rejected our attempts to interview him, mumbling that he had to stay focused.  Team Hummie is still dazzling the crowds with their incredible aerial gymnastics - we'll be seeing much more of them during these games, I'm sure.

This reporter took her hubs off to a picnic today - the local chapter of the North American Butterfly Assn had their annual picnic so we joined the fun.  Caught up with some of my friends from the naturalist group, enjoyed good food and great conversation.  A very nice break in the day.

The Rio Olympics are continuing to bring both joy (Team Refugee in the 100 meter butterfly swimming heat) and tears (Team France's gymnast Samir Ait Said).  And the AOG continues to bring me, personally, many smiles and laughs - thank you to everyone who is participating!

Don't miss any of the non-stop action:

Until tomorrow...

PS:  In monarch news...I now have two chrysalids and another two caterpillars who've assumed the "j" position and should turn to chrysalis form tomorrow.  In addition, I have 16 more cats in various stages of growth from super tiny to very large, all in containers on the patio/deck.  Finding more cats and eggs in the garden every day...
