George Green 1806
I was at the church of St Aidan in Gillamor, near Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire this afternoon. The weather was dull and I wasn't inspired to photograph within the church. Just as I was leaving I noticed this gravestone. I stopped to read the inscription.
In memory of George Green who died April 13th : 1806. Aged 19 Years
Farewell vain world: I’ve had enough of thee
And now am careless what thou says of me
My days are past my head lies quiet here
Thy smiles I count not nor thy frowns
What faults were seen in me
Do thou assiduous shun :
For soon a stone oe’r thee
Shall tell thy race is run
