Iron man

So....day two proper of the holiday (we arrived on Monday but it took around 6 hrs to drive from Stirling), and we went for a mooch around Calke Abbey and then to the Ferrers Centre just down the road from the cottage.

A lobely day just wandering around. The Abbey is amazing, a country house nestled in a hollow surrounded by a nature reserve....the Ferrers Centre is a courtyard on the Staunton Harold estate which holds an arts and crafts centre. Some lovely stuff with this guy greeting us at the entrance (which we eventually found). Next time I must visit the Church, which apparently is unique...built when all the other religious centres were being torn down by Henry.
