Crack of dawn Q then kulchr.
Up at 6 am to get into town to try to get tickets for Norma, "staring" Cecilia Bartoli in the title role. Box office did not open until 10 am and as we had no idea how many tickets would be available on the day for this sell out show, nor how many folk would be chasing them, we went early. Unusual experience queing virtually alone for 2 hours before being joined by a few more hopefuls.
Anyway, not the most intriguing or riveting of operas, but CB was, predictably, great. The Austrian company were strangely wooden and the transposition from ancient Druids Vs Romans to WW2 French resistance Vs Nazis did not improve the experience. It got a 4* from the Scotsman. Just glad we got reduced price tickets @ £25 instead of £90. Some seats were £140. Come on folks, this is Edinburgh Festival, not London. Keep the big numbers south please.
(Extra photo, of a curtain call, is very poor as I had to sneak it, and got a bollocking.)
