Puzzle Pieces

From order comes entropy, and from entropy order...that's the life of puzzle pieces.  Some MDF pieces destined to become a unique, three-dimensional canvas stretcher.  They are cut just like the pieces of a puzzle, with all their interlocking parts interlocked.  The laser's kerf (the material taken away along the cut line) is so thin that the pieces fit nearly perfectly together, despite the missing material.  I can hardly slip a piece of paper into the thin black lines where the laser has made its cuts.  The thicker black areas are where pieces were cut completely out and fell through to the collection area below.  Where you see small, smoky "puffs" are where the laser first fired and penetrated the wood.
