Road Trippin'

Feeling a bit homesick and lonely for loved ones today. So got myself out of my bungalow and up the mountain to Tam Dao Town with Sarah. Two of the bear workers offered their services as xe om's (moto taxi) for us which made for a really fun ride up. Got a bit crowded when the road narrowed at the top, but we made it in one piece :). Accomplished a massive trek in wet weather (lots and lots of slippery stairs) and was a little disheartened to find that in total we'd only hiked 2kms! I think the sheer steepness made up for lack of distance though!?

With physical activity out of the way we went and had lunch, drinks and a dip in the swimming pool (!) at the Mela Hotel. Pools are a complete luxury here! This is the first time I've been in a pool in Vietnam. It wasn't a five star establishment and I wasn't so keen to put my head under water.. but it was certainly refreshing after our big hike. We were very sad to see that despite numerous cocktails being offered on the menu not one of them was available... so we managed to find a xe om that could take us to the Belvedere Resort several km's away. The end result was some very very yummy pina coladas!! Twas a good way to end the day :)
