Derelict Sunday: Doomed!

This derelict apartment block (known as Le Signal) is situated on the southern outskirts of Soulac-sur Mer.
At the time that it was built 50 years ago, it was 200 metres from the sea. Severe coastal erosion, especially during some recent winter storms, means that it is now perilously close to collapsing into the Atlantic.
The apartments were evacuated as a result, although many of the residents are not happy with their settlement as can be seen from the graffiti outside the building and on the remaining windows.
Further down the coast in l'Amelie some sea defences were installed, although none were implemented here which was also a cause of much bad feeling.

As it was possible to enter the building, I took the opportunity to make a brief foray into the world of urban exploration and the first extra photo shows some interior shots.

The second extra photo shows that the new sea defences at l'Amelie were installed a little to late for this rather grand house which has also been abandoned and teeters on the edge having already lost its garden and some of its steps.

(I'm having to back-blip due to intermittent wifi availability)
