Parting Gift

A note from the second half of the 19th Century, found in a leather bound book of John Milton's poetry.  Written by 'Alfred' to 'Rhoda'.  It appears to be given as a parting gift - 'you have made the pain of parting much lighter'.  A beautifully scribed message and gift which has been passed down the generations.  I hope they went on to live happy and fulfilled lives.
