It still happens.
It still happens.
When we first started to buy our eggs "at source" it was at the farm doorstep. This progressed to a D.I.Y. in the barn, you took your eggs marked the sale in a notebook and dropped the payment into a locked Sideboard/cupboard. Until some "Publican" (Bar Steward) broke into the cupboard and made away with that week's take.
At this point I have a mental hiatus.
Then they opened the factory & the faithful few now buy in their office.
I was reminded of the set-up while visiting The Birds' Bistro where a
similar set up still exists. Possibly because the little git either hasn't found out, or lives too far away.
