A Life in the Day

Nativity

My parents brought this cute little Nativity set for us when they visited last weekend, and it has pride of place on the mantelpiece, reminding us of a baby born 2000 years ago in a stable. I love its simplicity and the rosy-cheeked faces of each member of the group in particular.

I was astounded today to read of a school who were prevented from taking part in their local Christmas music festival this year because the songs they had chosen to perform were 'too religious' and wouldn't 'dovetail with the overall theme' of the occasion. Irrespective of whether or not you personally associate Christmas with Jesus's birth and celebrate it for this reason first and foremost, does that not strike you as particularly absurd?
