‘I haven’t had any formal training,’
I said, ‘but, as it’s raining
and we’ve nothing better to do,
how about I draw you?’

‘OK,’ she said, ‘where shall I sit?’
‘Here’ll do,’ I said. ‘I hope you’ll like it.
It won’t take long.
A line here. A line there. I can’t go wrong.’

‘I’ve never had an artist draw me,’
she said. ‘You have now,’ I said, ‘it’s ready.
So, do you love it? No? Yes?’
‘I’m speechless,’ she said. ‘Absolutely speechless.’
