Evening pink

A pretty evening sky tonight is just the forerunner of what's coming. The Swift-Tuttle comet is about to peak in its annual show, with debris from its wake streaking across our earth's atmosphere at 132,000 mph, reaching temperatures of between 3,000 and 10,000 degrees. It's the Perseid meteor shower, and this year it's expected to be twice as good as usual. Tonight, after dark, will be the best chance to see it, with up to 200 'shooting stars' an hour.
