It's a shame my gold didn't turn out like Jess' tonight! (Team GB = utterly SUPERB.)

I'm not comfortable with the quality of work here but as I'm using this journal to chart progress....

3 hour gold size, waited, then applied 24k leaf. (More floated around kitchen than stuck to board.) Choosing optimum time to burnish is a fine art - it's 11.30pm and I'm still waiting. Tomorrow morning might not be too late.

Have learned today that:
- Need to be careful with application of gold size - oil based so could affect tempera layers.
- Gold leaf soooooooo thin - needs no help to get airborne!
- Quality of guilding also improved by using gold size with longer 'open' time. Water guilding (on bole) better still.
