There must be hundreds of dead and dying trees about the Black Isle. This pair were near the old boathouse, by Corgrain Point, on the Beauly Firth. They are, or rather, were Wych Elms, and are being wiped out by Dutch Elm Disease.
If Ash dieback hits the area soon, there will be an awful lot more dead trees about the local landscape....

Extra - Scallop shells drilled and nailed on top of fenceposts at the Old Boat Yard, by Charleston. Need to have another attempt here, as there's far too little depth of field in this one, and that shell's not clear enough, for my liking.
