The sun poured in like butterscotch.
It's amazing that our friends' house in the Dordogne remains cooler in 33 C heat than our own home does at about ten degrees cooler. It's all down to careful use of shutters and strategic opening and closing of appropriate windows. It has also been well designed, orientated to make most of sun and shade.
The shutters keep it so dark and cool that we have slept much longer than usual, and awoke to find it was getting late and once the shutters were open the sun was high and already very strong.
After a very leisurely breakfast and lots of chatting and clearing up after last night's party, we didn't get away until lunchtime. Consequently we have only progressed as far as Limoges . We are staying at this Chateau! Sounds very grand! Actually we are just camping in the grounds. Slightly less impressive.
