Bonanza!
Surrounded by an astonishing array of just-picked vegetables and fruits at the farmers' market this morning, I honestly didn't know which way to turn or what to choose! We've been having lovely summer weather for the past couple of weeks, and the variety, quality, and quantity of local fresh produce certainly reflects that.
I couldn't help smiling at these striped summer squash, which reminded me of circus clowns for some reason. The colors and shapes of myriad cherry tomatoes drew my eye next, followed by these golden corn kernels, nestled in their bed of silk and green leaves.
An array of summer squash wearing what looked like fancy hats would be the perfect partners for the striped ones seen earlier! Even the lowly potatoes had a special glow today.
I hope the same magic is apparent at the Wednesday farmers' market, as we'll be taking my cousin L and her husband B to it. They're arriving Sunday evening from North Carolina for their first visit to Bellingham, and we want them to see it at its best!
