Not as bad a day as theirs

Not my best start to a day.

Had an alert from Network Rail that my train was cancelled this morning, although it was shown as having left Bedford on time, despite also being shown as having been delayed (leaving the depot!) by yesterday's signalling problems at Kentish Town.

My son informed me that he had found the kitchen window open and the latch broken, he had shut the window. All sorts of things in the kitchen had been moved around as well as some in the living room. Not much taken - an old netbook, a card reader and a debit card. Couldn't see anything else missing. Even a small compact camera had been moved but left. Passwords changed here there and everywhere.

Rang the police to report it, they set up an appointment for a statement to be taken and talked about Scenes of Crimes officers coming, then rang off before doing anything about the Scenes of Crimes officers, they rang back.
Went to the station, found the road to the station closed and just about every policeman in town there, someone had driven a car into a shop, and from the look of it the building was unsafe. A little diversion and caught the first train after my normal one (it was a couple of minutes late and there is almost haf an hour between them).
It appears a car failed to stop when ordered to by the police, sped the wrong way up a one way street, smashing into this shop 54 seconds later. One teenage girl killed, one boy airlifted to hospital and one other legged it.
My day wasn't as bad as theirs.
