Lily the pink
....well anemone doesn't quite rhyme ;-)
A good nights sleep......hurrah!!!!!
Didn't wake at all until 6.35.....then before I knew it, it was 9am :-) we went straight downstairs in our pjs to watch the nights Olympics, that we had recorded.....great performances and results, pity about KJT :-/
Not a patch of blue sky anywhere, let alone any sun, these weathermen are useless!!!!!
We walked to the shop, for the papers, walked back, the longer route, noticed our neighbours hanging baskets looking a little sorry for themselves, so gave them a good watering and some deadheading too, they have perked up a little now. have since had a message saying they had gone away for a couple of days and didn't get chance to ask us ;)-
We had beans and fried egg on toast for brunch ....then I watched my team play their first game of the new season......a win, looks promising, oh, and it doesn't hurt to have such a handsome manager ;-)
Late afternoon the sun put in a few fleeting appearances so we made the most of it and got out in the garden. Disposed of our variegated lilac rhodi.....well cut it back really hard, as its lost all it leaves, put it out of sight behind the greenhouse, don't expect it to recover :-( cut back the rodgersia, going to dig it up, it's got too big, will save a piece and pot it up though. Cut back the flower heads on the asters and the geraniums, might get a second flush........fed and watered all the baskets and pots. Cut back some fleshy new growth off the cottinus........filled the bird feeders.
Came in to catch up on the Olympics, just saw Justin Rose get his win, followed by the gymnasts, looking like another great day!!
Hope you like this dark pink anemone...it sits amongst some pale pink phlox beneath the dark red leaves of cottinus "smoke bush" :-)
